We have finally decided to quit using the Mc Kee & Mason book to reference our bullets.
While a great book in its time (1970-1980), it is now well past its prime.
Quite a few measurements in the book are taken from fired examples or examples that are slightly out of round. 4 is dedicated to Confederate ammunition of all types.
With the amount of great bullets on the market today, precise measurements have been recalculated on 99.999% of the known examples. If you are serious about collecting bullets, these books are a great investment.
1, 1949.] Additional comments by John Spangler in Henry VII organized the corps of Yeomen of the Guard, half of whom were to carry bows and arrows while the other half were equipped with harquebuses.

The hotter the temperature, the more that exposed lead will interact with air. Confinement The availability of air is a major determination in how much it can interact with the exposed lead on the bullets.
TIP 2: Kept ammo in a container with no open air access (i.e. This greatly reduces the effects of the previous two factors mentioned.
ANNULAR RING - A circumferential crimp or indentation around the primer. In muzzle-loading a and various multishot weapons of the 19th century made possible loading the entire cartridge as a unit; many varieties were developed, using paper, linen, animal tissue, collodion, metal, rubber, and other materials. All required an external spark to ignite the propellant. Houllier, patented the first cartridge, capable of being fired by the blow of the gun’s hammer. The cartridge with a percussion cap, or cup, centred on the base of the cartridge—centre-fire—predominated in all larger calibres, but rimfire cartridges remain popular in small-bore, low-powered ammunition, , as it was commonly called, with a cavity in the base that expanded on explosion of the charge to engage the rifling threads in the gun barrel. This represents the first introduction of firearms as an official weapon of the Royal Guard The London Gunmakers' Company initiated proofs when it was first incorporated, but it is not clear whether private proofs or a trade proof-house common to the Company was used. Duelling pistols became officially standardized weapons -then it was laid down that they should be 9 or 10 inch barreled, smooth bore flintlocks of 1 inch bore, carrying a ball of forty- eight to the pound The revolving principle is as old as firearms, but manufacturing methods permitting sufficient accuracy of workmanship and precision of boring for a really safe cylindered or chambered weapon date from There never was an official State-maintained arms factory until the Government established Enfield as a Government factory when the Birmingham gun-makers struck for higher wages in the middle of the Crimean War.For full metal jackets and bullets lined with brass, this is almost a negligible issue. While there isn’t much in the way of definitive timelines set, it basically comes down to the perfect combination of: 1.For bullets with exposed lead, there is some risk associated with lead being exposed to oxygen over a long period of time and then being inhaled. Humidity The more humid an environment the rounds are exposed to on a regular basis can help determine the available water that lead has to cling to before being evaporated into the air.
